This is the ‘baby’ 1600 version of the venerable Alfa Spider S3 in LHD form that has clearly not spent any time driving around on salty winter UK roads, the underside and body being in fantastically original and apparently never welded condition.
Originally manufactured in 1988 she was first registered in the UK in 1997 and has just 3 previous UK owners recorded. The current owner bought the Spider at the end of 2021, at which point she was sent to our sister company Alex Jupe Motorsport for a good going over so she was reliable to use and enjoy. This resulted in £4463 being spent on the following:
- Carry out general inspection.
- Major service with all fluids & filters changed.
- New water pump.
- New front crankshaft oil seal.
- New cam cover gasket and seals.
- New engine mounts.
- New front & rear exhaust sections.
- New trailing arm bushes.
- New top front suspension arm polyurethane bush kit.
- New braided stainless brake hoses throughout, fresh fluid throughout braking system.
- New L/H front brake calliper (the right had already been replaced).
- New carburettor rubber mounts, gaskets etc.
- Replace all fuel hoses.
- New radiator hose kit.
- New distributor cap, rotor arm & HT leads.
- New NGK spark plugs.
Since this work was completed she has been kept dry stored and covered fewer than 500 kms (or 300 miles). For sale now due to a change in circumstances for the owner. Unfortunately the cars previous history has been lost during a recent move, so only the V5C, a CD of the workshop manual and invoice for the above work are present. However, as can be seen from the photos, this Spider has clearly been loved and looked after throughout her life. We feel it is quite likely that the low recorded mileage of 45184 kms is genuine due to the overall unworn and unmolested condition.
She has been repainted at some time in her life, presumably to address the usual Alfa red paint fade. There are one or two minor marks as befits an older repaint, but again she presents very well with a good finish to the paint. The floor pans have what must be an older coating of black wax as it has worn away in some places, but the wheel arches are still the factory body colour finish and rust free with it!
The drive is as you would expect of a low mileage car with extensive recent maintenance and she runs on restored alloys wheels with a matching set of Pirelli Cinturato P1 tyres in the correct size, including the unused spare.
I believe that this lovely little Spider will sell herself to the first viewer based on her superb condition, despite the lack of history.
She has just had a new battery fitted and will be supplied with a full MOT and oil & filter service ready to drive away and enjoy some top down motoring with that charismatic Alfa twin cam rasp trailing away behind you.
